Our harpist, Kimberly Glennie shines on Claude Debussy’s Danses sacrée et profane, which was premiered in 1904 and she says of the piece “These dances transport me to a mythical time and place. The opening movement is meditative bordering on the sacred, with a very emotional presence struggling to rise. The second is grace and joy and lovely movement, with a cadenza which speaks to me of another world, of yearning, and ends with a sense of soaring in flight. I love this piece because it gives voice to the magic and enchantment of the harp.”...
