Broadway Las Vegas
IDAHO! The Comedy Musical is bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to Las Vegas. The hilarious work is an original production being produced by The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. An irreverent look at tater country, it will have its world premiere next summer in Reynolds Hall from Tuesday, July 12 to Sunday, July 17, 2016.
It is being written by comedic genius Buddy Sheffield (In Living Color) and composed by local favorite Keith Thompson (Jersey Boys). You won’t believe your ears when you hear hilarious songs like “The Boys Are Never Put Out, ” “Don’t Be Put Out,” “Idaho” and more!
So what is IDAHO! The Comedy Musical all about, anyway? It’s a farcical, tongue-in-cheek send-up of Nevada’s northern neighbor, the one blessed with fertile soil perfect for – you guessed it – famous potatoes. The musical follows the adventures, romances and antics of a host of countrified characters, including the free-wheeling Ida Dunn and Slim Johnson, a simple feller just searching for some love. As the punning names show, this is a slightly risqué take on the golden age of American musicals – think Oklahoma! meets The Book of Mormon - all set in the Gem State.
IDAHO! The Comedy Musical is the season finale in The Smith Center’s 2015 – 2016 Broadway Las Vegas® Series sponsored by Southern Nevada Ford Stores. Subscriptions are still available, but they are going fast and end June 5!
The entertainment-packed series will also bring to town Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage; Ragtime The Musical; Elf the Musical; Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary Tour; The Bridges of Madison County; A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder and Cabaret to The Smith Center.
Season tickets include a host of additional benefits, including locking in the lowest season ticket prices, receiving 20 percent off select non-Broadway shows and the ability to purchase single tickets before they go on sale to the public.
