Ragtime The Musical to Bring American History Alive in Reynolds Hall

Broadway Las Vegas

The much-loved Ragtime The Musical presents the early-20th century tale of three very different groups in the United States of the day: African-Americans, the white Anglo-Saxon Protestant upper class and Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. Though it’s filled with historical figures like Harry Houdini and Henry Ford, the production’s themes of social struggle and the pursuit of the American Dream are as relevant today – and found throughout the pages of every newspaper in the country – as ever. It runs October 27 to November 1 in Reynolds Hall.

Based on the best-selling novel, Ragtime, by the acclaimed E.L. Doctorow, this production features rousing music by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. The book, by famed playwright Terrence McNally, is filled with pathos and great humanity. The bold collaboration won four Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. And for those lucky enough to have joined us opening night, it was a treat when Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell sang the Ragtime classic “Wheels of a Dream.”
