Medieval Meets Pop Star – The Genius Behind Costume Designs for ‘Six’

Costume designer Gabriella Slade beams when she recalls her eagerness to create eye-popping costumes for the mesmerizing musical “SIX.” “I just loved the idea of Henry VIII’s wives being a contemporary pop band. That was enough for me,” Slade recalls with a laugh. “When I realized we were going to do contemporary and historical (costumes) paired together, that was a massive draw for me.”

Already a multi-instrumentalist known for playing at Memphis clubs, Jones was surprised to have his math class interrupted by his friend, producer David Porter. Porter passed along an urgent message: Stax Records needed a saxophone player for a recording session right away, and Jones could have the job, if he wanted.

For the first time in two years, school buses full of eager children will park at The Smith Center’s campus this fall. As a nonprofit, The Smith Center has presented student matinees in its theaters for roughly 70,000 Southern Nevada students each year since its opening, all at no cost to schools.
