Supporting the Arts
Passion for community and the arts rang true at this year’s much-anticipated Chairman’s Celebration hosted by The Smith Center in May. Featuring an elegant celebration on stage in Reynolds Hall, this exclusive annual event offered special recognition to The Smith Center’s Founders, Chairman’s Club Members and Benefactors, whose generous support has played a pivotal role in the construction and thriving operations of our world-class performing arts center.
The tremendous donations of many of the attendees helped transform The Smith Center from a dream into a reality. Ongoing gifts from donors who graced the stage further help The Smith Center to present renowned artists from around the world at accessible prices, and to sustain our pristine facility.
They also directly support impactful Education and Outreach programs provided to hundreds of thousands of students and teachers across Southern Nevada, at no cost to participants.
While The Smith Center remains grateful to donors of every level, this very special evening expressed deep thanks to these important supporters through an up-close experience with their community’s performing arts center.
The event included dining and cocktails on stage, illuminated with suspended chandeliers, as well as Cartier gift bags and musical performances by renowned composer Keith Thompson, best known for his work as music director and conductor for many Broadway shows and “Jersey Boys” in Las Vegas.
In addition, attendees were free to engage with Smith Center executives and Board Members, including Chairman Don Snyder.
They also enjoyed a special speech of thanks from Smith Center President and CEO Myron Martin, who conveyed the tremendous impact that their support has achieved, not only with The Smith Center, but with helping to shape the arts and culture scene in Southern Nevada.
The 2017 Chairman’s Celebration was made possible by the support of Wynn Las Vegas. The event received additional support from Nevada State Bank, UMC, SWITCH and Blue Heron, and featured restaurant partners including Binion’s Steakhouse, Triple George Grill and Hugo’s Cellar.
