Known for its pun-filled humor and country-inspired score, Shucked blends heart romance, and lots of corny jokes into a lighthearted story about resilience and connection. At its core are its colorful characters – get to know them here.

MAIZY A determined young woman from Cob County, Maizy is optimistic, curious and quietly courageous, serving as the emotional anchor of the show while challenging tradition and pushing for change.

BEAU Maizy’s longtime sweetheart, Beau is kind, loyal and deeply rooted in Cob County’s way of life. He represents stability and tradition, initially struggling with Maizy’s desire to leave and seek outside solutions. His journey is about growth, as he learns to trust Maizy and embrace change.

GORDY A fast-talking “corn doctor” from the outside world, Gordy brings a burst of comedic energy into Cob County. While he presents himself as an expert, his confidence often outweighs his competence. Beneath the humor, Gordy’s arc reveals vulnerability and a desire to prove he’s more than a con man.

LULU A bold, witty whiskey maker, Lulu is unafraid to speak her mind and has little patience for nonsense, especially from Gordy. Their fiery chemistry fuels much of the musical’s humor and charm, while Lulu herself represents resilience and self-assurance.

PEANUT The narrator and comic commentator, Peanut breaks the fourth wall with clever observations and pun-filled humor. Peanut’s perspective adds levity and insight, making him a crucial storytelling voice.

STORYTELLERS 1 & 2 A duo who help narrate and shape the unfolding events, they function almost like a Greek chorus –with a playful, modern twist. Their banter, timing and wordplay enhance the show’s comedic tone while keeping the narrative moving.
