Broadway Las Vegas

The Smith Center’s 2025-2026 Toyota Broadway Las Vegas® Series opens in perfect style – with a show The New York Times called a “Super-Sized, All-Out Song-And-Dance Spectacular!”
Hilarious, Tony®- and Grammy®-winning musical comedy Some Like It Hot runs onstage inside Reynolds Hall from July 22-27.
Sound familiar? Probably because it shares a name with the beloved 1959 film on which it’s based. That movie starred Marilyn Monroe, along with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.
Here are a few more reasons to catch the musical version of Some Like It Hot.
Plot: During Prohibition, jazz players Joe and Jerry are forced to flee Chicago after witnessing a mob hit. Taking up new identities, they join a traveling band and begin performing on a cross-country train, with plans to slip off to Mexico. High jinks and unexpected relationships ensue, but with gangsters and the FBI on their trail – and their true identities on the verge of being discovered – time is running out for the desperate musicians.
Tony®-Winning Score: Some Like It Hot features an original score from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the duo behind the stage version of Hairspray. The music, which won the 2023 Tony Award® for Best Original Score, blends classic jazz and swing with Broadway flair.
Big & Bold: The Some Like It Hot musical is known for its high-energy choreography (by Casey Nicholaw, who also choreographed The Book of Mormon and Mean Girls), dazzling costumes, and lush orchestrations. It embraces the glitz of 1930s showbiz with large-ensemble numbers and tap-dancing galore, making it a spectacle in the best Broadway tradition.
