Discovering The Smith Center
As the Symphony Park area around The Smith Center changes, so do the parking options for those of you coming Downtown for performances and other events here.
And that means that whether you’re relatively new to The Smith Center or you’ve been coming to our campus since we opened the doors in 2012, you probably wouldn’t mind some new advice on the most hassle-free ways to get in and out of the surrounding garages. Here are a few of our favorite parking tips …
Pre-pay whenever possible. Paying in advance is a great way to avoid slowdowns on the way in or out of a garage. Just remember to note which garage you’re paying for – our Smith Center/Discovery Children’s Museum garage or the City of Las Vegas’ Promenade or City Parkway garages. Parking in any of the three costs $6, quite reasonable when you consider that event parking at many of Las Vegas’ other entertainment venues can run $20-$30 or more.
Enter and exit Promenade Garage on the northwest side, off Grand Central Parkway. The entrance on that end of the garage is typically free flowing, whereas the southeast entrance off Promenade Place tends to back up before and after shows.
Enter City Parkway Garage from the southeast side, off the access road along the railroad tracks. You can get there by following Robin Leach past City Parkway. That entrance is typically underutilized, while the northwest entrance off City can be busy.
When exiting City Parkway Garage, consider a third option. Along with the City Parkway exit and the one onto the aforementioned access road, you can take a vehicular bridge within the City Parkway Garage to the connecting garage on the other side of the railroad tracks, and exit onto Main Street. This is especially useful if your post-show plans involve the Fremont Street area.
Pre-purchase parking at The Smith Center
ADA spots are plentiful in Promenade Garage. There are lots of handicapped spaces on the first and second floors, plus the levels in Promenade are flatter than in City Parkway Garage, which can be better for those utilizing wheelchairs.
Shuttle carts are available. Need assistance getting from one of the three garages to The Smith Center? Look for our golf carts, which can take you to Reynolds Hall or Boman Pavilion.
Our most generous Members get reserved spaces. Folks who donate $5,000 or more annually to The Smith Center get VIP parking inside our Smith Center/Discovery Children’s Museum garage for every event they attend here.
