The Smith Center Launches Mobile Ticketing

Discovering The Smith Center

The Smith Center is fully updating its operations to maximize health and safety – right down to its tickets.

The Smith Center will transition exclusively to mobile ticketing for its reopening this fall, with digital tickets sent directly to patrons’ smartphones for them to hold under a scanner.

“It will be a completely touch-free system, solely using people’s smartphones,” explains Twyla Mitchell, senior director of Ticketing and Sales Services. “There will be no more paper tickets at The Smith Center.”

With expanded internet capabilities to ensure mobile ticketing operates seamlessly, The Smith Center team continues to analyze and test the new process to provide a smooth transition.

“We realize this is a big change,” Mitchell says. “But once we all get accustomed to the new system, our team feels confident that guests will find mobile ticketing convenient, safer for public health and even beneficial for the environment.”

No Paper, No Problem

Under the new system, people who purchase show tickets will receive their mobile tickets in a digital Smith Center Wallet no later than 30 days before the show.

“They will get an email notifying them when their tickets become viewable,” Mitchell says. “The email will also have a link to the Smith Center Wallet that contains their tickets.”

By clicking the link, they will pull the wallet up on their phone’s internet browser.

Patrons can then access the wallet with their Smith Center account login.

“You don’t have to worry about remembering where you put your ticket, or someone stealing it,” Mitchell says. “It will simply be on your smartphone, and you can pull it up with a couple clicks.”

Patrons also don’t need to worry about forgetting their show dates, she notes. They can just log in to their account on The Smith Center’s website and click on My Account, then My Upcoming Performances.

“On our updated website, you can now find a full list of the shows you have purchased, including their dates, times and your seat,” she says.

Protecting Health and Safety

When patrons arrive at The Smith Center, they will simply hold their smartphones under a scanner that will read their tickets’ barcodes.

The mobile tickets will have a constantly changing, unique QR code (a type of matrix barcode), Mitchell says.

This allows for only one scan of each ticket upon patrons’ entry into The Smith Center. Any attempts to duplicate, alter or sell copies of mobile tickets will result in denied entry.

“This serves a very important purpose of reducing fraud,” Mitchell says. “We can crack down on ticket scalping and the sale of fake tickets like never before.”

Mobile tickets uphold The Smith Center’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, by significantly reducing trash and preventing thousands of paper tickets scrapped per show.

This touch-free system also safeguards the health of patrons and staff in the aftermath of the pandemic, a top priority for the center’s reopening.

“We want everyone to know when The Smith Center reopens that they can feel completely comfortable in their environment and free to enjoy the show,” Mitchell says.

All Together Now

If a patron buys tickets for other people, the new system does require for everyone to enter together with the ticker purchaser, as the tickets will go only to that individual’s smartphone.

So please plan ahead, Mitchell recommends.

“Of course we realize that people get held up or can’t find each other,” she assures. “Those who can’t meet with their groups in time can go to the box office, which will print a temporary ticket for them.”

Patrons who forget their phones or experience a dead battery can also obtain a temporary ticket from the box office, she adds.

Don’t have a smartphone? No worries, Mitchell says.

Just contact the ticketing and box office team after purchasing tickets, either by emailing [email protected] or by phone at 702-749-2000 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

“We are here to make everyone’s experience as hassle-free as possible,” Mitchell vows. “We look forward to providing a safe and welcoming environment when Southern Nevadans step through our doors again.”
