Showgirl Turned GLOW Wrestler

Those who work day to day with attorney Lauri Thompson might not believe she was once on television hurtling women over her head in a sweat-filled ring. But Thompson, a Smith Center Member and 37-year Las Vegas resident, rose to rapid fame as one of the original members of GLOW — Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Selma Bartlett has helped Southern Nevada grow as a community leader. As the community grew through the years, however, Bartlett saw a lack of local entertainment for all ages. That’s why she didn’t hesitate when Don Snyder, chairman of The Smith Center board, asked her to donate in support of constructing the world-class performing arts center.

Jen Flood still remembers when the idea of becoming a showgirl crossed her mind in high school. “I remember seeing the show ‘Jubilee!’ On ‘Entertainment Tonight’ and I remember thinking, ‘What’s that? That seems cools,’” says Flood, marketing manager with The Smith Center. Little did Flood know, this thought would shape her career.
