Singer Jonathan Karrant salutes the music of legendary lyricist Johnny Mercer, whose compositions made a significant impact on the Great American Songbook. With songs like "Autumn Leaves", "Moon River", "Skylark" and "Summer Wind,” Mercer was a top writer for Capital Records in the 1950's and 60's, and collaborated with several iconic composers. His songwriting was considered to be very prolific and provocative, creating word images through his lyrics, triggering thoughts and emotions. With a repertoire that spans classic jazz standards and contemporary interpretations, Karrant will bring a modern elegance to Mercer’s songs.
Jonathan Karrant's album, “On and On” hit #4 on the Billboard Jazz charts and his album Live hit #2 on the iTunes Jazz Charts. He has received honors throughout the states including; the New York City Cabaret Jazz Honors, “Best Singer” for the Bravo California Awards and was named one of the top 10 rising jazz vocalists by Downbeat.
