Discovering The Smith Center
Those who crave a quick commute to Smith Center shows will soon have an impressive option. Southern Land Company (SLC) broke ground this May on the first-ever residential development at Symphony Park in downtown Las Vegas, a project that will provide 324 apartments directly across from The Smith Center.

Harrison Harvey is no stranger to multitasking. As associate director of Hospitality and Events at The Smith Center, Harvey organizes the multitude of community events hosted year-round on campus. But even before this, Harvey dominated a demanding career overseeing acclaimed productions in prominent New York City theaters.

Broadway performer Jim Caruso had no idea what was in store when he threw a random Christmas party at a New York City nightclub 15 years ago. But the event was such a smash. The club owner asked if Caruso could organize the same kind again. Caruso agreed and has been hosting a weekly open mic night for the best and brightest of the entertainment world ever since.

Backstage at The Smith Center’s seventh-annual Nevada High School Musical Theater Awards, students in shimmering green costumes embraced with giddy enthusiasm. Hailing from Lake Mead Christian Academy, these students had just made their Smith Center debut on stage in Reynolds Hall.
