Many performers skillfully adapt music, dance and theater to cultivate inclusion and educate the world about Black culture and history. Las Vegas native Brooke Solan made her Broadway debut as a teenager because of The Smith Center.
“That was actually the biggest highlight of my life,” says Solan, now a professional performer and vocal coach. “It meant that I was on the right path to achieving my lifelong dreams.”

The Smith Center, a nonprofit, board-led institution, recently added five new members to its board of directors to help it propel culture and arts education in Southern Nevada. The elected members are all esteemed regional leaders, selected to serve alongside an already impressive list of Southern Nevada civic and business innovators to guide The Smith Center during its extended closure and prepare it for a successful future.

The deadline to nominate outstanding Clark County School District teachers for consideration to be recognized at the 6th Annual Heart of Education Awards, presented by The Smith Center and powered by The Rogers Foundation, has been extended from Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 to Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 in order to allow for more time for nominations to be submitted.
